We got hit...

This weekend we all got hit with the stomach bug!! YUCK! It started with Saxton and she still has it. I got it Friday night..it hit me around 10pm. I would rather have the flu than a stomach virus. Thankfully, Saxton slept in her crib all night long on Friday!! God was really looking out for us because there is no way I could have taken care of her while I was that sick. I was up every 30min-1hr. Mimi came and got Saxton on Saturday morning for me and Steven had little league all day. We are very lucky to have family so close to us. Saxton stayed with Mimi and Poppy Saturday night and now they are sick with the stomach bug. Sorry guys! Steven was feeling a little under the weather but it didn't hit him with full force.

Hopefully we will all get to feeling better soon.

NT Test Results

Just got our test results back for Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18 &13..Our baby is perfect. They rate the risk by ratios and she said they consider 1:350 very low risk and we scored 1:10,000! With Trisomy 18 &13 the ratio should be at 1:150 and again we scored 1:10,000.

Just thought I'd share the good news!

Also, one other update, Saxton slept in her crib last night! She cried for about 30 min but finally went to sleep. She started out in our bed but woke up at midnight and there was NOTHING I could do to get her to stop crying. I'm starting to think she is teething. I gave her some baby oral gel and tylenol and we had to let her "cry it out". I know it sound cruel but we literally tried everything! She slept from 1am to 5:15am and I put her in bed with us and let her stay in bed with Daddy when I left for work.
Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 14 weeks 5 days

Size of baby: From head to bottom, he measures 3 1/2 inches — about the size of a lemon — and he weighs 1 1/2 ounces

Total Weight Gain/Loss: Not sure? Need to weigh myself tonight :/

Maternity Clothes: Not Yet. A friend of mine at work just let me borrow all of her maternity clothes.

Gender: I still think it's a boy, we'll see! We find out on April 15!!

Movement: Yep! I can feel little flutters occasionally. I love it!

Food Cravings: I've been craving tangy sauces? Not to the point where I feel like I have to have it! They just sound good.

What I miss: Caffeine. But I can live without it.

Sleep: Still sleeping a lot. Some nights I have a lot more energy than others. There are days on my way home from work that I want to just go to sleep as soon as I get home.

Symptoms: Still the same.. Hungry, exhaustion/fatigue, frequent trips to the bathroom, nothing too extreme.

What I am looking forward to: Finding out the gender on April 15 and feeling our baby move more!

Snowy Weekend

Friday night we had a nice long walk around the neighborhood and park. I just love this time with my husband. No TV, no cellphones, and no other distractions. We've been trying to walk every night for exercise. The weather has been so nice, so it's perfect! Later that evening we went to eat at Mi Cocina. Saxton had some guacamole, which lead to a complete outfit change before we left the resturaunt. Not because the guac got on her outfit, if you catch my drift. :)

Asking Daddy to take a picture with her
Sax and Daddy
Saturday was a rainy day. All of Steven's games got cancelled so we slept in, ran some errands, and organized the house a little. Later that night we went and had dinner with Nonni (my mom). We noticed that it was snowing as we arrived at Benihanna. It didn't stop all night. I was sure it wasn't going to stick and then we woke up to this...

I couldn't believe it! We stayed in bed all day! Steven ran out to the store a couple times but Saxton and I were in PJ's all day. It was perfect!

Drinking juice for the first time. AppleBanana

Saxton also rolled over for the first time this weekend. She rolled back and forth about 5 times. I wish I had caught this on camera. I will try to soon. Sax and I also had a long conversation about cheerleading. She is definitely on board. She started yelling in her best cheerleading voice for about 5minutes. She can't wait to start. :)

Saxton

Now that I know how to post videos..I thought I'd post one of my girl. Missing her!

She has been blabbing a lot. It honestly sounds like she's saying DADA DADA DADA. I think she will definitely be saying "Daddy" first. I didn't catch it on video but I'm going to try to this weekend.

Doctor's Appt

Well, yesterday we had 2 doctors appointments. The first one was for the NT Scan to test for down syndrome and trisomy 18 & 13. Everything looked normal. Our baby was already taking after Daddy and being stubborn. She couldn't get the baby to turn in the right position to measure the fluid behind the neck. Therefore, we got to watch the baby on screen for a good while. The sonographer even let me video for a little bit, but let us know that it wasn't allowed. I got a small clip of the heart beat and another one of the baby hanging out. She wasn't able to tell us the gender, if you have the volume on she explains why in the second video. I know some places will make a guess and others don't want to take the risk of guessing wrong, which was the case yesterday. We also got some good pictures to take home.

The bpm was 153.

In between appointments I legally changed my last name to Nabors. I'm no longer a Redd. Well, by paper I'm not. There's a lot to change. So far, I have done my Social Security Card, Drivers License, and Bank accounts.

Our next appointment was just our regular OB appt. The checked the heart rate and just asked questions. The heart rate was 155 bpm. We are both still thinking boy. We will find out on April 15!! I can't wait! We are very blessed to have a healthy pregnancy thus far.

After our day of doctor's appointments and running around, we took a long walk around our neighborhood and the park and had dinner. THEN, my wonderful husband took me on a date . We've made a promise to try and go on a date once a week so we can have a little time to ourselves. We went to the movies to see She's Out of your League. It was pretty good.

Hope everyone is having a great week!! Love Ya'll

Decisions

I love this story on making decisions!

"It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in princes." Psalm 118:9 (NIV)

I had looked forward to this moment for days. I sat across the table from my friend and poured out my heart about a big decision I had to make. As I looked into her eyes, I just knew she would have the wisdom I needed. I waited expectantly for her advice.

Instead of an answer to my problems I got a mini sermon. One I needed to hear. My friend pointed out that I was looking to the answer and not the Source of all answers. I thought if I just made the right choice, I would solve all my own problems. "You need to take your focus off making the right decision and trust God," she said. "No matter what you decide to do, He will still take care of you and He will accomplish His purpose for you." (from Psalm 138:8)

I nodded soberly. My friend was right. I had gotten caught up in the outcome. I was placing my trust in princes—looking to people and circumstances for the answers—instead of accepting the truth that, no matter what decision I made, God was going to take care of me. I had made the decision so uber-important that it had eclipsed God's place in my life.

I had prayed to make the right decision. I had journaled pages to Him about it. But ultimately, I reasoned, since He hadn't written the solution in the skies for me, I had to make my own choice based on what I felt was right. I had forgotten that He would still be there working all things together for my good after I made the decision, just as He had before.

If you are facing a big or little decision in your life, seek Him above all. Don't let the outcome or the opinions of others become more important that the One who "opens His hands and satisfies the desires of every living thing" (Psalm 145:16).

No matter whether you make the right decision or the wrong one, He will still be there walking with you, loving you, and helping you. Pray about your decision. Read His word. Seek out godly counsel. And then make the best decision you can. Sometimes the biggest decision is to simply make one. Place your trust in Him and rest in the fact that He will meet you on the other side of whatever decision you make.

Dear Lord, thank You that because of Your grace I know You will always be there. Thank You for the promise in Romans 8:28 that You will work all things out for good. I pray that my life brings You glory and I trust You to work in all circumstances to make that happen. Help me to place my trust in You and not in princes. In Jesus' Name, Amen

BRAGGING

I have to take a second to brag on my husband. He is the best! He cooks dinner, he helps me clean up, he goes to bed with me at 7pm (We are so old), and he's been able to handle my pregnant mood swings very well!
I'm not sure how often he reads this but I love you, babe!! Thanks for being such a great husband!

Weekend

This weekend was pretty laid back. Friday night Daddy had a little league game and my dad and Nancy came out to join us. Saxton stayed awake the whole time and enjoyed watching the kids play. After the game we had dinner and stayed out a little past Saxton's bed time. It's so strange asking for a highchair at restaurants now but Sax gets so excited to sit in one. She bangs on the table most of the time, that can sound annoying but I think it's pretty cute! :)
(She doesn't usually take a passy)
Sax watching the game

On Saturday Daddy went to look at lake houses with Uncle Lloyd out at Lake Cypress, Sax and I ran errands/shopped. We went to buy some new bows because somehow she has torn apart a couple of them. While we were there we found a few other things to buy. I decided Saxton needed to be fully accessorized, like girls should be. So she picked out a bracelet and some sunglasses. If we have another girl Steven and I will both have to get another job, in addition to the ones we already have. After a little shopping we went to hang out with Krista while she got ready to host a friends wedding shower.

Showing off her bracelet.

Krista is so good at party planning!

Saxton likes to hang out in the bathroom while we get ready. Check out her favorite spot.
While we waited for daddy to get home Saxton had a little snack, Applesauce and Cereal. She is really starting to enjoy eating solid foods. The spoon in the picture is the greatest thing! It's actually called a "boon", you fill up the tube with baby food and squeeze it to dispense food on the spoon. It's pretty mess free, and convenient to take on-the-go.

Look at my pretty eyelashes!

Daddy got home soon after and it was already time for dinner. We went to Jesse's to grab dinner with Uncle Lloyd, Teresa, Austin,Clayton, Colton, Jeremy, Sara, and Christopher. I married into a pretty big family and I love it! I didn't get a chance to snap a picture, I'll get better about that soon! We came home and gave Sax a bath. She's growing so fast it's unbelieveable. She has almost outgrown her ducky tub.

Sunday we got up and went to church. Saxton has really started "talking" more. She especially likes to "talk" during quite times at church. Actually, during a prayer this Sunday she let out a huge burp. I'm pretty sure she got everyone’s attention in our section. We then attempted to go to family dinner for Uncle Bob's birthday. I learned my lesson on waiting too long to eat. I got a little irritated and sick to my stomach from not eating that we had to leave. Sorry guys! It was such a beautiful day; we decided we would go to the park. Again, I didn't get any pictures. OOPS! We ran into Aunt La'Rae, Uncle Tim and the boys and hung out with them for a while. We walked around the park and our neighborhood for a little exercise. Saxton slept the whole time. We laid out a blanket under a shade tree and Daddy got a quick nap in. It was a perfect Sunday with our growing family.

Mavs Game

Last night Steven went to the Mavs game and guess who he ran into...Jake and Vienna from the show The Bachelor.

She kinda looks like she just rolled out of bed. We knew they would start getting out in Dallas soon.
I guess they are still together for now..

Our Lazy Weekend

This weekend daddy had a little league tournament. So, Saxton and I ran some errands and hung out around the house. We had a lot of first this weekend... Saxton's doctor said she could start on some solid foods. This weekend we tried baby rice cereal and gerber carrots. Sorry the picture is a little blurry, it came from my cell phone. If you notice we fed her on our bed, I'm sure that will not happen again...she's a little messy.

Friday night Krista came over and we all grabbed a bite to eat!

On Saturday we ran some errands. Saxton sat in the grocery cart all by herself for the first time. Mimi bought her a floppy seat and she loved it. It was much easier to put her in the cart than carry her in her carseat, I was very happy to see she could sit on her on her own.

After we ran errands, Saxton and I went to the park. It was a beautiful day! I put her in the baby swing and she absolutely loved it. She giggled as I pushed her. Later that evening we went and had dinner with Mimi and Poppy, Aunt La'Rae and Uncle Tim, and Emily. Saxton slept most of the dinner but woke up at the end to see everyone. I brought our camera but forgot to take pictures. I will try to remember next time!

Sunday was a rainy day so Saxton and I had a pajama day. Daddy's games got rained out so he got to come home early! We all layed around and took a nap. It was a perfect day!

3/4/10

I want to start this blog to keep track of our growing family! Steven and I were married on 2/13/2010. We have a daughter, Saxton, who is 6 months and is the light of our lives and we have one on the way! I'm not sure what we did before Saxton came along, I bet so bored. She is growing so fast. This Friday is her 6 month check-up and she's getting her ears pierced! EEK! Saxton is the best lil' baby. She very rarely cries (she's been a little fussy lately) and sleeps through the night. The only thing we need to work on is getting her to sleep in her bed. :/ I know, I know...we're bad parents, but we cant stand to see her cry in her crib. It's honestly heartbreaking!! I'm hoping to get her in her crib before the new baby comes.

At 6 months Saxton is:

Growing very, very fast...especially in her cheeks!
20.2 lbs and 28 1/4 " long

She's sitting up all by herself.
She's not rolling over quite yet but getting pretty close.

She can chug 8 oz. of Similac in 10min.

She's holding her bottle on her own.

Her daddy can make her giggle by throwing her up in the air. (not high)

She loves to hear her Credd say "Where's Saxton???" She smiles everytime, even in mid-cry.

She blows bubbles with her mouth.

Mommy at 11 weeks:

Starting to feel much better with more energy.

Fighting a cold with the help of amoxicillin.

Starting to feel my little belly getting bigger

I think I've been feeling little flutters

Daddy and I still think it's a boy

The baby's heart beat was 170 bpm at our first appt

Our next appt is March 17th, 2010!
