Skylar's 1 week

I'm going to take weekly pictures so we can watch how much Skylar grows week by week. Yesterday she was 1 week old. She doesn't do much but eat, sleep and poop. She started smiling in her sleep at 3 days old and it is the cutest thing ever. She often tries to hold her head up herself. She's a strong lil thing. It seems like I'm always nursing and she's not too fond of burping. We are working on it though. Nights have been very easy for me. She's been going 4 hours which the doctor said is fine as long as it doesn't exceed 4 1/2 hours between feedings.

Here are a few extra pics from our first week home.

Skylar Layne is here!

Tuesday morning bright and early we left the house to go to the hospital. We had a scheduled c section, September 14th because our little angel was breech and too stubborn to turn. I hadn't been sleeping very well the past couple weeks but somehow the night before I slept the best I have. I think it was from all the prayers we were getting. We got all checked in to the hospital and got to our room to get IV fluids started. Nonni, Aunt Ashley, Papa Redd, Nana Nancy, Mimi and Poppy were all there before we went back for surgery.  I was extremely nervous. They took me back first and gave me a spinal which wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Daddy came into the room after what seemed like forever. The pain medication made me a little sick to my stomach and I actually got sick on the operating table. We got started around 8:45 and Skylar was delieverd at 9:07 weighing 7lbs 2.6oz and 20 and a quarter inches long. They held her up on the side and I fell in love instantly. Daddy got to hold her first and kept saying "she's so pretty." All I could do was rub her lil cheek while they were finishing the procedure. They took us back to the recovery room and I finally got to hold her. I couldn't believe how perfect she is. She looks just like me except I think she has Daddy's nose and toes. I was able to start breast feeding in recovery for a little bit. Aunt Ashley was the first to come back and see her. I was still feeling a little sick after the pain medication. They took Skylar back to the nursery and moved me to a regular room. They brought you directly back to Mommy and then the visitors started coming. We were very blessed to have so many friends and family that came to see us. I still can't believe she's here. September 14th was by far the best day of my life. I already can't imagine my life without her. There are several times a day that I just look and her and can't fight the tears because I love her so much already.
